After more than two years of planning and 18 months of fundraising, installation of the Alumni Stained Glass Window has started!

It is anticipated that the installation of the window, which will be situated in a North facing position in the University Chapel on the Parkgate Road Campus, will take approximately three days to complete.
The design will incorporate elements of the University’s history, combined with today’s modern institution and has been designed and created by Pendle Stained Glass in Padiham, Lancashire.
The idea for the window came about as a result of discussion among the University's Alumni Association Executive committee, who were keen to commemorate the institution's 175 year anniversary, in some way.
As the Chapel has played an integral part in the life of the institution from its early days, forming both a focal point for activities which reflect the Church of England foundation of the University, and a symbol for the community spirit which has been such an important feature of Chester generations of students and staff, members of the committee felt it appropriate to mark the 175th anniversary with a stained glass window, which would be a permanent commemoration to the institution’s alumni.
Members of the committee played an active part in fundraising for the window, as well suggesting improvements to the design. Earlier this year, members of the committee were invited to visit the makers of the window, Pendle Stained Glass in Lancashire, to see the window taking shape.
Benefactors will receive a personal invitation to view the window, see the recent restoration work in the Chapel and participate in a service of celebration, later in the year.
