Volunteering

There are a number of opportunities to volunteer at the University of Chester with the Alumni and Development team and we really appreciate those who are willing to give their time and energy to assist us.

Before you apply to be a volunteer, have a think about what it is you would like to be involved in? Could you help out at an event? Do you think students would benefit from your time in the working world? Or are you looking to be more actively involved and think you could represent your graduating class' point of view?
To help you think about this we have provided brief descriptions of the types of things you can volunteer for so you can make sure you pick the right opportunity for you.

If you do decide you want to volunteer we also ask each person to sign a volunteer agreement.

Become a member of the alumni committee

We value the opinions of our alumni and we have an active alumni committee who meet three to four times a year.  Members are elected to the committee every year at the AGM. The committee represent a wide spread of graduating years.

Be a case study for Careers and Employability

Do you feel that your time at the University of Chester really helped you in getting your first job or benefitted you on your career path? If so, the Careers and Employability team collect case studies of graduates to show current students what their qualifications can lead to. All you have to do is answer a few questions and provide a photo and your case study will be displayed on the University website and possibly at one of the campuses. You could even go further and offer a current student a work shadowing placement or an internship.

Event volunteer

We have a number of events throughout the year and an extra pair of hands can go a long way! Your duties can vary from chatting to recent graduates about the work of the Alumni and Development team or actively participating in a networking event.

Volunteering opportunities at the moment:

1. Become a member of the University of Chester Alumni Association (UCAA) committee
2. Be a case study for Careers and Employability
3. Help at various events
4. Usher at Graduation ceremonies (March and November)

If you would like further information on any of these roles please contact Helena Astbury, Alumni and Development Officer on h.astbury@chester.ac.uk or on 01244 511005.
