There are a number of ways you can volunteer at the University of Chester through the Alumni and Development team, and we really appreciate those who are willing to give their time and energy to assist us.

Before you apply to be a volunteer, have a think about what it is you would like to be involved in... Could you help out at an event? Do you think students would benefit from your experience in the working world? Perhaps you could offer a current student a work shadowing placement or an internship? Or maybe you think you could represent your graduating class' point of view?

To help you think about this we have provided brief descriptions of some of ways of you can volunteer, so you can make sure you pick the right opportunity for you.

If you do decide you want to volunteer, we also ask each person to sign a volunteer agreement. You can also choose to sign up to the University’s volunteering scheme and receive a certificate for the hours you spend volunteering.

Become a member of the alumni committee
We value the opinions of our alumni and we have an active alumni committee who meet three to four times a year. Members are elected to the committee every year at the AGM. The committee represent a wide spread of graduating years.

Be a case study
Do you feel that your time at the University of Chester really helped you in getting your first job or benefitted you on your career path? If so, we would love to hear from you and show our current students what their qualifications can lead to. All you have to do is answer a few questions and provide a photo and your case study may be featured at one of our Open Days.

Event volunteer
We have a number of events throughout the year and an extra pair of hands can go a long way! Your duties can vary from chatting to recent graduates about the work of the Alumni and Development team, actively participating in a networking event or ushering at some of our graduation ceremonies.

Volunteering opportunities at the moment:
1. Become a member of the University of Chester Alumni Association (UCAA) committee
2. Be a case study
3. Usher at the graduation ceremonies in March/November

If you would like further information on any of these roles, please contact Helena Astbury (Alumni and Development Officer) on or 01244 511005.
